Active listening is crucial to the success of writing center tutorials, teacher-student conferences, and effective peer response in writing workshop. We suggest ways to incorporate active listening throughout the writing process, addressing problems as well as successes. Handouts include suggestions for peer response and formative feedback that invite interaction.
